PRESS RELEASE
TEMPE, Ariz. – May, 2004 – The Valley’s
two public radio stations, KJZZ 91.5 FM and KBAQ 89.5 FM, have extended
their contract with Public Radio Partners to act as the stations’
exclusive representative for corporate underwriting through 2009.
Underwriting is a 15-second message of corporate support. Revenues
generated from corporate support help provide the informative, cultural
and educational programs found on public radio.
Public Radio Partners has been representing KJZZ and
KBAQ in local and national underwriting sales since 1999. The company
also provides underwriting sales for KNPR in Las Vegas, KPLU in
Seattle, WPLN in Nashville and KUT in Austin.
“Our goal at Public Radio Partners is to make
underwriting a significant sustainable revenue source for our client
stations,” says Jim Taszarek, Jr., Public Radio Partners president.
He continues, “Over the history of our contract with KJZZ
and KBAQ we have grown the two stations’ combined underwriting
revenue by more than 20% a year.”
Public Radio Partners increases a station’s
client service capabilities and provides more companies with the
opportunity to support public radio. Public Radio Partners’
success stems from its ability to communicate public radio’s
marketing value to a community and align with underwriters who value
public radio’s non-commercial nature and quality programming.
Public Radio Partners evolved out of a national research
program funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Taszarek’s
father, Jim Taszarek, Sr. (Taz), spearheaded this national program
to develop best practices in underwriting for the industry. Jim
Taszarek, Jr. and Kirk Nelson, former KTAR General Sales Manager,
created Public Radio Partners equipped with the knowledge Jim gleaned
from his father’s efforts and they put it to work for the
benefit of KJZZ and KBAQ.
Based in Scottsdale, Public Radio Partners is a privately-owned
business that provides outsourced underwriting sales departments
to public radio stations across the country. Public Radio Partners
generates more than $7.5 million dollars annually for the public
radio stations it represents.
