SACRAMENTO, Calif. – October 26, 2005– Capital Public Radio, Inc., (CPR) operators of two stations in Sacramento plus another five in California's Central Valley and the Sierra Nevada has selected Public Radio Partners (PRP) as their exclusive agent for all local corporate underwriting.
“We selected PRP because of their proven track record of significantly increasing corporate underwriting for their client stations, while doing so far within the letter and spirit of Public Radio underwriting, said Michael Lazar, President and General Manager of Capital Public Radio. “We’ll also look to them to create sales models for initiatives utilizing the Web and podcasting.”

PRP acquired Capital Public Radio’s existing underwriting staff with plans to hire a sales manager and at least one more representative within 6 months. Corporate Support Representatives maintain their local presence working from Capital Public Radio’s new state-of-the-art studios on the Sacramento State campus.
Founded in 1979, Capital Public Radio now includes KXJZ Sacramento, KXPR Sacramento, KUOP Stockton, KXJS Sutter, KQNC Quincy, KXSR Groveland, California and KKTO Tahoe City/Reno, Nevada. An estimated 300,000 listeners tune into classical, jazz, news and public affairs programming provided by the seven stations each week.
Public Radio Partners is a privately owned business providing outsourced underwriting sales departments to public broadcasting stations. Operations began in 1999 when KJZZ & KBAQ-FM in Phoenix outsourced their underwriting sales to PRP, a partnership that soared revenues by 50% in the first two years. In calendar year 2005 PRP will generate over $8 million for their client stations: KJZZ and KBAQ in Phoenix, KNPR and KCNV in Las Vegas, KPLU in Seattle, WPLN in Nashville, and KUT in Austin and a consultant relationship with WYCC-TV in Chicago.
